Re: Fun Run 2/22
No Stu, my adventure happend on the longest of the straight sections that connected two sections of single track, no gates involved. Regarding head shake/tank slappers. When it happend it remined me of back in 1980 I had just bought a brand new Yamaha XJ550 Seca, fun little bike. After I got it brok...

Re: Fun Run 2/22
Cheating happens at virtually every event to some degree. That's part of the game. On an unrelated note, I launched off one of those terraces at about 55 mph and the back of the bike dog-tracked out a bit. When I landed the bike went into a big tank slapper that scared the crap outta me. I didn't cr...

Re: Fun Run 2/22
Another perfect day in terms of weather and track conditions. Had a great first lap and came thru the scoring tent showing me in 1st place. Cool. Second lap everything going well, you can really let the 3-hunny eat on the long straights picking off slower riders. The creek crossings are starting to ...

That's cool. Whatever you do, ride something somewhere this Sunday. It's supposed to be low 60's.

Re: Fun Run 2/22
Mac, every class has it's own starting row and they typically start about a minute apart. The 900 class is usually between 10 to a couple dozen riders. They had 30 in the 900 class at Milford. My son in law in only his 2nd race took 6th and they trophied all the way to 10th place. The smile on his ...

Re: Fun Run 2/22
Mac, the directions are on the opening page of the FMHS website. Bring that 400 out and ride in the 900, (Trailrider) class. Some guys do every race of the series for points and money, some do a few races a year just for fun, (me). Some guys will ride a lap and stop at an interesting place in the wo...

Re: Fun Run 2/22
Since that is a public park, the promoters are required to remove all ribbon and arrows before they leave Sunday afternoon. The race was on the east(?) side. If Milford gets any rain this week I doubt you'd even be able to find the course. The only tell-tale signs would be trees with fresh bark scra...

Milford 3.8.09
Stu, if you were there yestersday and I missed you, sorry about that. My camelback decided to spring a leak right before the start and I was late lining up as I had to monkey with that. There was 160 riders on what during my drive out I thought would be a mud run but was actually perfect. Milford ca...

Re: Husky TE610 questions?
--Harvey sounds like you might be selling a 450 in the near future???? I have a love/hate relationship with the RFS bikes. If I resign myself to riding it at a "trail ride" pace, the bike is fun to ride. To me, it lends itself more to flowing, wide single track stuff. I really enjoy riding it on the...

Re: Husky TE610 questions?
I'm probably not going to make any changes mainly because what I currently have is dialed in, proven and I have a good dealership network close by. If I had the time to go to Arkansas/Colorado/Moab, etc, 3 or 4 times a year I agree, either a 450/525 or something like that would be perfect all around...

Husky TE610 questions?
Anybody here own a TE610? I rode a buddies '07 TE recently. The motor is 100% stock, I didn't see a charcoal cannister on it so he may have removed it. My impression was it was not as powerful as my 620, but it was 10 times smoother. I'm sure w/some carb work you could get more snap out of it. The 6...

Re: Fun Run 2/22
Stu you should have put your obligation on hold for a day and came to the race. Perfect weather and the soil had the perfect amount of moisture. There was a couple places where the cedar trees shaded the track that was greasy but it was epic. The nice thing about Westy is, each wooded section is sep...

Re: Fun Run 2/22
Stu, personally I wouldn't buy an e-start 2T either just because of the added cost but I have killed a bike on a hill side a couple of times with a drop off on the left side with no place to put my left foot down. The button would have been real nice then. I rode Jay Stevensons '08 300XC button bike...

Re: Fun Run 2/22
FMHS last raced at Tony's (Westmoreland) about two years ago. That track was a blast. A lot of variety to it. There were a couple creek crossings, one wasn;t too bad as there was a couple option lines on it. The other wasn't bad early but as the day wore on it got downright ugly. There was a hill cl...

Ride yesterday.........
It was 67 degrees yesterday and I'll be damned if I was not gonna ride somethin' somewhere. I rode the 620 to Lecompton and back via the river road, about 30 miles round trip. Saw some deer on one of the unmaintained roads. It was pretty muddy on that road but luckily there is enough rock to keep yo...

Re: Wabaunsee County 12/08
I guarantee that KLX400SR was in fine shape when I sold it to David. I only owned it for about 8 months or so and never changed the oil once. I'm not sure I even checked the oil for that matter. I did pancake the suspension a number of times at Thunderhill with it chasing XR-nut on his fat pig 650. ...

http://ktmtalk.com/index.php?s=0d046bf01054c7a000f20615d1065107&showtopic=180932 After I rejetted the carb and swapped AP diaprams earlier this week I couldn;t understand why it had such a bad bog right off idle. It was worse than it should have been. I got to thinking, could I have installed the AP...

Re: Heavy flywheel on an EXC450
I couldn't tell you for sure as I've only put about 40 miles on it. I'm still getting the AP dialed because it has the "standard EXC bog" right off idle. Once you get thru the bog it hits with authority so I know the power is there. So far I liked how it smoothed out the shifting and helped it lug b...
