Re: The hill climb in Troy......
Sorry we missed you Motoracer. The actual "races" up the steeper side then down the easier side was cool. By the time they ran the exhibition bike "race" it was getting pretty dark as I guess they didn't want to turn on the lights because it would be in the riders eyes going down hill. They should h...

Re: The hill climb in Troy......
I was going to ride the Glide but I was afraid if I dropped it I'd need a helicopter to pick it up. I rode the 300.

The hill climb in Troy......
Dateline, Saturday, 9.22.09 6;30AM, drinking coffee in the garage, considering a number of chores I need to do today. Luke calls and asks if I want to go to the Hill climb in Troy this afternoon. I said I really needed to mow the grass, change the oil in my compressor, and put together a spreadsheet...

Re: KTM Pulls out of Dakar Rally
I read about that as well. KTM, a long time supporter of the rally spent alot of money to develop that bike (in a bad economy as well), to race and now can't do it in the manner they wanted. I think Honda ran their 450 last year if I remember correct. I'll bet there's some politics involved. I suppo...

Re: DS ride this weekend?
I rode from Topeka to Lecompton today ont he river road. The one unmaintained road was a little greasy since it doesn't get much sun but I made it OK. My 70% worn rear tire didn't help any. Just watch out for the Buick sized boulders, the off camber switchbacks, and the hidden wet logs that try to w...

Re: DS ride this weekend?
Mac, I have a breakfast thing I have to do Sun AM. I could be at the 6th & Croco (?) meeting point I'm sure no later than 9;45 AM, maybe a bit earlier if I'm rude and excuse myself by telling the group I need to go ride a dirt bike.

Re: DS ride this weekend?
Either day works fine for me, maybe do the better weather day, whichever that would be. I'm flexible on start time as well. If you were going to start in Topeka and do the river road first, I'd suggest meeting at 6th and Croco road at the convenience store there. You can get gas, etc if you need it....

Re: DS ride this weekend?
There was two gnarly unmaintained roads between Topeka and Lecompton on 2nd street (River Road). They graded part of one a couple years ago, the other one is still there. If you do this ride I'd go from Topeka to Lecompton with you. The road from Lecompton to Lawrence is pretty good but alot is pave...

Re: Well worth it repair - DRZ/KLX
I've also read issues where the CS sprocket bolt on the DRZ's work themselves loose and you're supposed to locktite them on pretty good. I wonder if a loose C/S sprocket may be the root cause of the leak and if it's kept tight the leak issue would not happen. I'd be interested to know if the guy wit...

Re: Well worth it repair - DRZ/KLX
Mac, I've read about this issue on the DRZ's. Are the replacement seals/o-rings built differently to correct the problem long term, or is this just considered a "wear item" on this model? Is this the first time it's been replaced on your bike?

Re: Bought a new bike...
Dennis G. had a Pampera a number of years ago I saw on a couple rides. Pretty neat looking bike. His came from the factory 100% street legal. There is a guy that rides a Trials bike at the river in Topeka frequently. He rides near the entrance where there is alot of big rocks. It's cool to watch him...

Re: Anyone going to the Hare Scramble in MO?
Mike, usually they don't allow riding on the course the day or two before the race because they are out on the course setting up the track. You could confirm this on the FMHS site. The Thunderhill "Best of Kansas" race later this year might be a good choice for her. Each rider must race the HS cours...

Re: Anyone going to the Hare Scramble in MO?
Mike, Walters is reeeeal rocky in some sections, and it's top gear pinned in others. Not that your daughter would ride WFO, but as a 1st hare scramble for a newer rider, that's a pretty aggressive track choice. The Jeeps Massacre, Milford, upcoming Quenemo, even Carbondale would be good 1st timers. ...

Re: Messed up my knee riding yesterday
Dang Slim, that's bad news. Hopefully you don't have any MCL/ACL damage. I was never worth a damn at riding wheelies. I have a hard enough time keeping the bike upright on two wheels. Get well quick.

Re: Need rear turn signals for '04 450 EXC
I wound up getting another OEM signal so all four would match. When I got it home I took it apart and realized the signal part snaps on/off of the stalk. At the time, I thought I had actually broken the signal part off but it just came un-done. I now remember some guys on KTM talk bitching about the...

Re: Need rear turn signals for '04 450 EXC
It's all your fault FP. If I wasn't trying to keep up with you professionals I never would have smacked that tree and ripped it off. I should have rode the 300 that day. DC called and said we're riding Saturday. See ya then.

I think I could work with that. Does it flash at the proper speed without having to monkey with the electrics on the bike?

Need rear turn signals for '04 450 EXC
I finally managed to wipe off the right rear OEM turn signal off the 450. I was looking at Sicass racing signals. I like the flush mounts but would like to have a bit better visibility on the street like the 22-103C's. . Most important is I'd like to get something that I can splice right in and it w...

Re: May '09 Dirt Rider 450 Shootout
I read that article as well. You gotta figure BMW must not spend much in terms of advertising dollars with Dirt Rider. It seems all the mags now have very little negative to say about the bikes and aftermarket products they test as they don't want to piss off their revenue stream. I haven't seen a b...
