I have been riding in top quality hunting/hiking boots but after reading this thread I went to motorcyclecloseouts at lunch and purchased a pair of Oxtar Infinity boots. They have some armor that hunting boots don't have but the movement of my foot does not seem any different then my hunting boots....

Why does it have to be like that?! I have feelings you know. 8) You guys will have a blast. Unless it rains hard, School Creek ORV at Milford Lake will be fine. It's not the mud pit that Perry Lake is. I'm healing up slower than I'd hoped. I'm still on crutches, but I'm "walking" on the foot probabl...

 So I went to motorcyclecloseouts after work. I had never actually looked closely at MX boots. My assumption was wrong. I had assumed they were rigid similar to ski boots. I assumed they immobilized your ankle--I was wrong. In fact, most pairs allowed me to easily bend the ankle over 90 degree...

The Mulberry Mountain Lodge obviously can host a much larger group if we need it. I know a lot of people probably prefer to go as ultra-low-cost as possible, but I don't get away on vacation very often, so when I do, I don't mind paying extra to enjoy myself. For a really good 3 day riding weekend, ...

There is a balance to be found, and I suppose that line must be drawn individually. On one extreme, if I absolutely don't want to get hurt riding motorcycles, then I should not ride. On the other extreme, I race enduro's barefoot without a helmet. For me, a huge part of what I love about riding is t...

You can't afford NOT to have the gear

Against my better judgement, I'm going to start another topic on safety gear. I'm talking specifically in regards to off-road trail riding--not backroads. 8) You've no doubt heard the old wisdom, "If you don't have your health, you don't have anything." Herophilus, a greek physician known as "the fa...

I hadn't thought outside the box like that...thanks. I'll see if there are any options to connect the guards another way. I'm not looking at the bike right now, but I can't think of any other way to hook them up. These EE brushguards are very thick. Reshaping them--especially twisting--would be diff...

...Any way I was just mentioning that removing the cross bar aint a real good idea. Have you looked into a set of fat bars? Good advice. I really have not, but at this point, I need to change my strategy, so yeah, I'll do that. I guess I'm also curious why other people are able to install brushguar...

Glad you guys made the ride. I was home nursing my badly sprained ankle. I believe the first of the 2007 Holt Hill Climbs is Sunday, April 1st. (No this is not an April Fool's joke.) Last year, I especially enjoyed watching a crotch-rocket actually attempt and MAKE the hill climb. He did have...

Is there a such thing in this country anymore as non-private land? Riding on the inside of a fence to get to a gate to get out to the road is probably a good sign you are on private land. ;) Then again, out there in the middle of nowhere, we seem to find those ghost roads all the time and you wonder...

I got out and rode Troy's Plattsburg route today, had a good time. I was a little nervous about riding and looking at the gps but after twenty miles or so I got the hang of it. Thanks for putting it together Troy, some of the roads I had been on at one time or another but had would have never got t...

Re: Troy

Thanks for the comments, David. Yeah, let me know if you see a deal on a multi-pack of handlebars! Part of the reason I bent my handlebars is that I have to remove the cross-member in order to install my hand-guards. I know other people do not have to, so I'm not sure why I have to, but on bot...

Hey Mac! I'm healed up except I still have a nagging twinge of pain occasionally in one spot. I've ridden a DR650, and sure, it would be nice to have a very small, light dirt-bike for the OHV area, I'd not hesitate to ride a DR650 out there---just take it a little easier than you would on a tiny 2 s...

Believe me, if this river crossing had been doable, motoracer13 would have done it. In fact, I think he seriously thought about it for a second. Maybe in the dry summer time.

It was a nice route, Dean, you'll enjoy it. FYI, there is a part you'll have to reroute around a bridge that is out...but that is part of the fun.

Daryl, just let me know as soon as you know one way or the other. Lot of Sunday riding opportunities coming to the surface and if possible, I'd like to know by Friday night which ride I'm gonna do.
