RideForum Logo

If RideForum needs a logo, here is my favorite candidate so far. It is the "pavement ends" sign used by some areas of the country. I don't think I've personally ever seen this sign on the road. http://www.absolutvision.com/gallery/gallery/th/2M4183.preview.jpg I like it because it could have 2 meani...

Re: AR Fall Ride again? Sep 28-30th

Hey, does someone have a route that sean made up I believe. Its the road that we took During the April Fools ride and it had all the jumps on it. We ended up going around a lake and a low water bridge at the bottom. It was the route we used to get from Byrd's down to Clarksville. Horsehead Lake is ...

Re: Off-Road Enthusiasts housing development?

Don't talk about farmers with food in your mouth. Good one! Biting the hand that feeds you is generally a bad idea. Just ask my dog. Oh yeah, you can't--I killed him when he bit my hand. I'm a farm boy myself. KC & I grew up milking about 100 cows and farmed maybe a total of 1,000 acres or so. We h...

Electric motorcycles

The inventor of the Killacycle, the worlds fastest electric vehicle, crashed today. He is expected to be OK. http://www.visordown.com/motorcyclenews/view/owner_crashes_world_s_fastest_electric_motorcycle/1496.html Lots of interesting electric motorcycle concepts: http://crave.cnet.com/8300-1_105-1-0...

Re: Off-Road Enthusiasts housing development?

It's about time somebody shut those damn farmers up. Who do they think they are running their noisy machinery?! Nothing pisses me off more than when I'm on some backroad enjoying a beautiful day of dualsport adventure and come upon a field with a farmer running his obnoxiously loud tractor belching ...

That is, with my tiny 4.6L Triton V8....it's about as small as the V8 gets. I'm sure she'll pull it fine--downhill.

Without Sean, we probably have nobody connecting this trip with the KTMtalk group. Please feel free to invite Randy & Sandy--great people to ride with.

Re: Off-Road Enthusiasts housing development?

It would require a lot of acreage and ideally, the trails would be mostly wooded---provides beautiful, interesting riding as well as noise and dust barrier. I don't think the economics would work for most developers, but a very upscale version of this is in the works in North Carolina. Some Nascar b...

Re: Toy Hauler

Now that thing is cool! Not over the top luxury and expense, but nice sleeping/food prep quarters with lots of space for the bikes/quads, etc. Too late for KC! He went nuts at the state fair and picked up this bad boy: http://picasaweb.google.com/wolf.nica/ToyHauler Way to go, brother! Now I got a n...

Off-Road Enthusiasts housing development?

I have coworkers who live in golf course communities. You take 100 to 200+ acres, build a beautiful golf coures, clubhouse, and then sell home lots all around. The home owners pay an annual premium to maintain the amenities and enjoy their passion--golfing--anytime they want. My boss lives in a wate...

Re: Anderson and Franklin Counties

With the Marengo tool, you can't add any notes or other points besides route points. You can name your points, but you only get 6 characters. I added point #8 to mark the Graveyard/park---does it look to be in the correct location. I named it "SgrGrv" We may have a miscommunication regarding the roa...

Re: Tracking down the old Paola bridge

I created a short route snippet that starts at the Paola Bridge and ends at the creek entrance. Does this look correct? http://www.marengo-ltd.com/map2/index.php?route=1466 Btw, just N of that Victory & Dead End sign, you did ride that L-shaped road (W 295th and Woodland Rd) didn't you?! Re: Anderson and Franklin Counties

Sounds great! The overall distance may be too aggressive for many riders. Would we be talking about 200+ miles to do a full loop? Probably. 200 miles is no biggie if on a larger (more comfortable) machine and you keep moving, but doing the rough stuff and a few dead ends and a few minutes here and t...

I'm working on a long route that starts in Desoto, KS (for KC and Lawrence-based riders, etc.) and hits all the min...
