Re: Riverside Motorcycle Park in Topeka, KS

Alot of FMHS guys do in fact ride there. It's kind of been an unwritten rule not to talk about that area much, especially online. So it's like Fight Club. The first rule about Fight Club is :" You don't talk about Fight Club". The second rule about Fight Club is :" You don't talk about Fight Club"....

Re: Riverside Motorcycle Park in Topeka, KS

Terry, Thanks for checking up on this with the city. I'd be willing to volunteer at what ever to help develope or promote it. Larry, it was me, Troy, who checked with the city. Terry apparently works for Topeka (he is not a member on this site). I'm glad you are willing to help. I PM'd you with Ter...

Re: If you think you're a good rider

Shoot, if I knew the world record could be broken by jumping only 313 ft, I would have had somebody video and measure some of my normal jumps on the ole DR350. Aint nothin' for me to jump 300, 350, whatever it takes.

Re: The Sexy 2008 Aprilia RXV/SXV 450/550

I'm definitely not thinking of getting one, but vibration? Worse than a single? That is hard to imagine. I did a lot of reading about this machine and what I was learning is that lots of people had reliability issues with the 2007, but this 08 has a lot of "improvements" to fix those issues. Anyway....

The Sexy 2008 Aprilia RXV/SXV 450/550

http://www.aprilia.com/upload/modelli/road/p01271_0075.jpg Image above is the SXV (S is for super-motard). RXV is the dirt machine. Twin cylinder, dual exhaust, fuel-injected. Of course there are up and down sides to all that, but I have to imagine it is a smooth, powerful, machine. You have to agr...

Re: Tiffany Springs Park

Man Troy, after reading your post (wich I agree with 99 percent-except I also own quads!). My brother owns ATVs as well. I don't own any, but I enjoy riding them, too. Honestly, I should not fall into the trap of using the stereotype. Of course not all ATV riders are disrespectful morons. Also, the...

Re: Tiffany Springs Park

At the risk of being flamed, if it's only 50 acres, I'll take walking / bicycle / horse trails instead. This close to KC metro, 50 acres is ridiculous. It would be completely destroyed in about 2 months--that is, all vegetation stripped bare and erosion problems. There would probably be a dozen inju...

Re: Tiffany Springs Park

I guess I'm confused. I thought the city already sold/leased that land to "KCI Motorsports Park".

Re: Sunflower Loop

Uh....I've ridden thousands of miles of KS backroads, and seen some beautiful stuff. I do love Kansas. However, I have to agree with JaySoy on this one! Mountains in sight....turn around. ARGH! :) ...but let's not have this thread turn into a debate on the validity of the Sunflower Loop. Others have...

Re: Sunflower Loop

That is great, David!

I figure that loop would be at least 1,200 miles. At 300m/day, that's at least 4 days, but of course, that would be pushing very, very hard. So I assume you are figuring about a week?

Re: 11/11 River Road Round Trip MO - KS

I've ridden the River Rd on the MO side from Atchison through Weston and back to Kansas City a couple of times. It's high-speed gravel with easy curves. It is enjoyable, but not at all like the West (KS) side. If you look at some maps and the satellite imagery, you may think you can ride the levy, b...

no advertisement money = no articles I used to naively assume that articles in news publications and other media were somehow organic--a natural result of what is happening and what is news-worthy. However, over the last year, I've learned how the "squeaky wheel gets the grease". Getting your name/...

Hayden, I don't remember talking about this, so maybe you were talking with somebody else. WOW! That looks like SO MUCH FUN! Those guys are in Idaho...that would be great if you lived somewhere that has great snow-mobiling country. Only about $4,300 to convert a dirt bike...yikes.

Re: Husky models

The Husky TEs have been street legal since 2006 and all models come with all DOT stuff to include blinkers, brake lights etc... That's where I'm confused. The photos on the website do not show blinkers. Do they come with as an add-on kit or something? (Included in the price?) 2008 TE450 http://www....

Re: Husky models

Thanks for pointing that out, Ian. Only on the model menu, does it have any reference to DOT-legal. It is strange that when you are looking at a specific model, it does not indicate this.

I was proud of that stache. Unfortunately, it was lost in an accident involving a ground hog, 3 feet of rubber tubing, and 80 kilos of bananas. I still have the scars.

Husky models

http://www.husqvarnausa.com/ So...in 2007, Husky's website announced loud and clear that the 2007 models were "50 state street-legal". Now, I don't see that. It is obvious the TE610 "dualsport" model is street-legal, but it is not made clear on the TE250, 450, 510. If they are officially street-lega...

Re: DR435

Hey Troy, Come and ride mine - that should give you a good idea of what you will end up with. It's got the big bore kit (448cc), vortex airbox, and muffler mod. Actually, this is the best advice. One ride, and I'll know if it's something that will appease. I'm in no hurry, Jim, but I'll get in cont...
