OHV Use is Endangered
I recently joined the Arkansas Off Highway Vehicle Conservation Association (AOCA). I'm trying to figure out where and how I can help preserve our right to enjoy the public forests and how to educate my fellow OHV enthusiasts to ride responsibly. Below are links to some of the things I've been readi...

Re: April 3-6, 2008: April Fool's Ride in Arkansas!
The more I read of your AR Adventures the more I want to join you but I don't think I can. That weekend is the youth turkey season in KS and I have a nephew that already has it on his calender. As much as I'd love to have you along, there is no way this ride would work for your BMW1200GS! You handl...

Re: April 3-6, 2008: April Fool's Ride in Arkansas!
Hey, Dennis, remember struggling to walk/drag our bikes down this hell hill?! As usual, the photo does not do justice. This was a nasty, steep hill. One I'll avoid in the future. We broke the "don't go down something you can't get back up unless you are sure there is another way out" rule. I remembe...

Re: New ride for wife
If you want a dualsport class machine that can run 70mph on hwy.....and is lady friendly.....the 70 mph thing is probably a bit of a kicker...unless you mean only for short stints. The 650 class bikes can do the hwy stuff but are usually quite large as you know. What about a KLR with the lowering li...

Count me in. This is Dennis. I'm the "old guy" that did the fall ride with you on a 450 exc. The "old guy" who rode me under the table? The guy who every morning was the first one suited up, helmet on, sitting on bike, pointed towards the trail? Glad to have you back, Dennis! I added your name to t...

2 Wheel Adventure from Seattle to Boston
Well, not exactly the "2 wheel" adventure I had in mind. This adventure happens at 10MPH! A couple guys quit their soul-sucking cube jobs, purchase a Segway, and ride it--at 10MPH--from Seattle to Boston.

I'd be in an RV anyway. How many pads do they have and how late can I slide along if I'm just RVing it? Info about the RV camping at Mulberry Mountain Lodge: http://www.mulberrymountainlodge.com/campground.htm Jeb, I have not added your name to the rider list yet because you sounded a bit iffy. If ...

Re: Dakar '08 Canceled
It would be cool if some riders just decided to ride it anyway. You could make a movie about that. Cool. Except the part where a terrorist severs your head from your body, video-tapes it and then posts it on his website. Probably not the movie you had in mind. I'm not following this news story, but...

Oh, and there is an event clash. The River Valley Dirt Riders sponsored Arkansas Hare Scrambles Race is that weekend. There is nothing on their website calendar about it. If you know, where and when are they riding at? We'll want to make sure to stay out of their way. It will be a treat to have you...

devro , Glad you found us, and it would be a pleasure to have some local knowledge and experience along! Regarding the Garmin gdb file--what Safiri posted is exactly what I would have told you. Btw, that file is just my "personal" route file of the area. It's not the official route file for this ri...

Re: April 3-6, 2008: April Fool's Ride in Arkansas!
Sean will reply of course, but he told me he plans to arrive by "late lunch" on Thursday. I was originally not planning to arrive until perhaps 10PM Thursday. I am now considering taking Thursday off to arrive late Thur morning. My issue is really coordinating the car-pooling with fellow riders. We ...

Re: April 3-6, 2008: April Fool's Ride in Arkansas!
I'm getting reports of people arriving late Thursday and votes for just option 1. Unless a whole lot of you contact me in the next 24 hours or so to tell me otherwise, we'll do option 1 -- no meal provided Thursday evening. Sean, I can't believe you are deployed in active duty yet planning our meals...

Troy: We have two options: Option 1: we can do a big dinner both Friday and Saturday nights for $25 a head total. We will have a mix of pulled pork, beef, ribs and chicken with sides o' plenty. Option 2: we can do Option 1 PLUS a small dinner Thursday night that is just sandwiches and light sides f...

I update the first post daily, but I just updated it with some important information regarding the lodging and cost. http://www.rideforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=533 I'm happy with the price -- it is a really nice place. Re: April 3-6, 2008: April Fool's Ride in Arkansas!
Sean (and others who remember this), On that first KTMtalk ride (Spring 2006), you had a route that took us down around Shores Lake (beautiful!). There was a 4WD road we were supposed to turn left to start what was supposed to be a long, amazing trail along Hurricane Creek. We were broken up into at...

560 miles and 30+ caches?! Success! Nice photos (as usual). Glad you got out and kicked off 2008 right.
I sure wish I had a big bike like yours. I love my trail riding, but I'd love to have a machine to do 300 comfortable miles at 70 MPH, too. I shall not want...I shall not want...I shall not....

Individual membership is $10 annual. Membership form is linked at bottom of their home page. I know t...
