Re: The cheap fix
Way to go, Larry. Fight the man! Speaking of cheap alternatives, these were discussed a long time ago in a distant thread I could not find, but Sams Club online sells these cheap ATV saddlebags that could be modified to provide cheap storage on a motorbike. Less than $35. http://www.samsclub.com/sho...

Safiri? You ride today?
I have a 60 mile round trip and have been wussing out with the obvious rain. If there is a chance of rain but not raining when I get up in the morning, I usually risk it.

Re: Tiffany Springs Park
The meeting was attended by fewer than 20 people. I found it interesting and am glad I attended. The KC Parks Dept has contracted WSKF Architects to conduct a "feasibility study" regarding OHV use in Tiffany Springs Park. WSKF was involved in planning the original master plan for the park which incl...

Re: Hey guys....how ya been?
I read your AdvRider thread. Cool stuff, Chris!. And yeah, long time no see. Cool to see you got 2 cool bikes now. I've joined the 2 bike crowd now with my 2006 Vstrom DL650. Been having a blast on it. That Triumph is a wonderful machine I hear. Cruise triple digits and not even know it.

Sept 20 & 21, 2008: MATT Trials
Mid-America Trials Team 35th Annual Quarry Cup 2008 If you've never watched a trials competition, you are really missing out. These guys are magicians on motorcycles. The events are family-friendly. Personally, I really hope to make it but I have possible schedule conflicts. The full scoop can be r...

Re: Sep 6-7, 2008 ROAD TRIP?!
Glad it all went well Troy. What kind of MPG do the 650's get? Our 1000 got a low of 38 and a high of 44 on our last trip loaded with as much stuff as we could get on it. I see that you have a very big top case on yours, maybe at least 42 liters or more? We're looking for bigger cases as we speak, ...

Re: Tiffany Springs Park
The location of the upcoming meetings have changed. The new meeting location will be the Kansas City North Community Center located at 3930 NE Antioch Road. Thank you for sharing this. Where are you getting this information? I'm wondering what list I'm NOT on that you apparently are. I signed up fo...

Re: RIDE WEEKEND SEPTEMBER 27/28 ON PRIVATE MOTO TRACK
A little effort.... Google can find a location using coordinates, but it wants decimal degrees format, not minutes seconds. So you can go here and enter the minutes seconds Joe gave you to get the decimal degrees. For example, in the top boxes, you'd enter these 3 values: 39 55 0.682 Once you have t...

You all can breathe easy--I made it home. ;) I had such a good time! I really like my V-Strom! Last minute before taking off, I found this AdvRider thread where some guys were going to moto camp in the Buffalo River State Park in Arkansas. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=321941&page=...

Re: Sep 6-7, 2008 ROAD TRIP?!
Yo Randy & Sandy! Cool to see you checkin' in here. My brother, Kyle, and I bought DL650 Vstroms. I got the GPS wired on the bike and changed the oil and filter--needed it BAD. All, my plan now is to leave at BCOD (butt crack of dawn). I have a GPS'd route to the Rush Campground in Buffalo River Sta...

Sep 6-7, 2008 ROAD TRIP?!
This is last minute and nothing may materialize, but... I have all of a sudden found myself free this weekend as the wife and child are heading out of town Fri - Mon. It will be too muddy for off-road adventures, and the V-Strom wants to do a road trip. So I looked at the weather briefly. Hard to kn...

Re: RIDE WEEKEND SEPTEMBER 27/28 ON PRIVATE MOTO TRACK
As long as the equation is not BEER + GUNS + CLOSE PROXIMITY TO MX TRACK, this sounds like a hoot-n-nanny! I'd like there to be less than a 0.001% chance that I could get shot while playing on the track!

Re: RIDE WEEKEND SEPTEMBER 27/28 ON PRIVATE MOTO TRACK
Right now I do not know a reason I could not make this weekend. I definitely want to. I assume a good number of KC-based riders will want to take part. It is about a 2 hour drive from Kansas City to Joe's place--right, Joe? Let the carpooling plans begin! I'm up for camping on you property there. I'...

KC is right! That night of camping was a howling good time!
I've got family plans and duties this entire weekend, so I'm out for riding School Creek on 8/31. Have fun!

Loud motorcycle, car may mean a ticket
I'm a new Overland Park resident. In today's mail, I received my first "Overview For Overland Park Residents" Fall 2008 newsletter. It's actually very good with plenty of information I'm glad I read. I found this article interesting, but not surprising. Warm weather and being outdoors can bring soli...

Re: GS Trophy down to the wire!
Nope, this is Troy. :) BGG is Brian. Thanks for the compliments on my riding, but I'm not just being humble when I say I'm not that skilled. My Husky is definitely more bike than I know how to use! I didn't actually ride with you much, Bill. But I kept hearing rumors of your riding feats! I guess al...
