Re: RideForum Discount At LCC open house Sat 4/25

Hey, Motoracer! Cool deal! I was out riding in the Mark Twain National Forest, so I missed the big day, but thanks for thinking of our little forum and the dualsport community!

Re: White Cloud ride May 30th.

I may be interested if there is a group that will be staying on gravel and dry dirt roads. I'm sure Dave H. won't want me riding in his group, since the last time I spent more time in the mud than upright. If you are looking for guarantees against mud, unless it has not rained for over a week, don'...

Re: Messed up my knee riding yesterday

Sorry to hear about the knee, Slim. Like you, I tend to use my knees a lot, too. Go figure. I want to learn how to ride a wheelie myself. I'm almost embarrassed I don't know how to ride one after riding motorcycles my whole life--I'm 38. I should say, I have not built the skill--I know technically H...

Re: Memorial Day Dual Sport

Any ride that requires 2 days of round-trip driving means I need to make it a week-long trip to get my bang for the buck. I have no problem taking week long trips EXCEPT I get basically 3 weeks of vacation from work. I already do 1 week riding in Colorado each summer, another week of vacation time i...

Re: Rode today/looking for bike-for-daugher input

Oops...forgot this. A bike I can highly rec is the little Husky 250 fourstroke that is street legal. Since 2006 or 2007? Daryl will know. Those are awesome woods bikes and are a blast to ride. Husky street-legalness started 2006 I think. Fuel-injection started 2008. I wish I could have test ridden ...

Re: Rode today/looking for bike-for-daugher input

I do not believe the dealer will be of any assistance with getting a street-legal tag. Nothing they can do to help. (My opinion and understanding of the situation.) A brand new bike has a MUCH better chance because brand new does not require inspection. It is the inspection that causes the most hass...

Re: Rode today/looking for bike-for-daugher input

A Gas Gas dealer I can highly recommend is Halls Cycle in Springfield, IL. Yes, a long drive, but they have a fantastic reputation among the Husqvarna owners. I made the 6 hour drive to get my Husky there. It is just a little shop, but they are one of basically 2 dealers in the US worth a darn for H...

Re: Rode today/looking for bike-for-daugher input

Problem is, now that she's apparently getting quite comfortable with the KTM power, would anything else satisfy? I'm not saying this as a KTM-fan. I'm saying this because of the simple fact that those expensive, high-engineered bikes have amazing power to weight ratios compared to the Japanese count...

From what I get, they are camping at White Rock and riding all the trails at Mill Creek. right??? Sean is right, Hayden....remember when we exit the Mill Creek system and head north on the gravel road that turns into pavement before dumping us onto 16 where we eat and get gas in Combs? Well, along ...

Re: Dakar on VS.

Privateer Jonah Street is out of the Dakar with broken cartilage in his hand that requires immediate surgery. He said he simply can no longer hold onto the bike. This is very disappointing as I was really pulling for Jonah. Here is a little history on Jonah. http://www.rallypanam.com/ridersjs.html F...

Re: Dakar on VS.

I'm really enjoying the coverage this year! They are doing a much better job showcasing the motorcycles than years past. I'm loving watching privateer Jonas Street! This guy is not backed by any sponsors and has only an old F350 truck and a buddy who is a bike mechanic. And he won stage 5 and is in ...

Re: What is your favorite charity?

Those sound like some great charities, Eddie. Of course we all know about the Salvation Army. Despite various internal corruptions they've had in the past, the fact is they really do deliver to people in need at the time they need it most. You reminded me of another great charity that I know persona...

Here is another one that gets the job done: Heifer International: http://www.heifer.org/ Yes! I like that one, too. My mom & pop bought me a Christmas gift 2 years ago that, if I recall correctly, was a goat for a family. If it works the way it is supposed to, it is a gift that keeps on giving. Any...

What is your favorite charity?

I'd love to hear from the community about which charities you like to give to. Giving is on my mind--especially during this holiday season and the condition of the economy. 'Tis better to give than receive! My favorite is Habitat For Humanity. http://www.habitat.org/ What is Habitat for Humanity Int...

Re: Update from Luc, the flying Frenchman

Costa Rica anybody? The short-lived TV show hosted by motocross legend Ricky Johnson called "Epic Ride" had a Costa Rica episode where Yamaha provided the 8 riders with WR450's. They had episodes in Baja, etc, but that Costa Rica riding was amazing. In one day they rode beaches, jungle, mountains, ...
