Re: Spammers

Late last night, I removed all spammer accounts including the ones pending activation--there were about a dozen. This morning--so just overnight--I deleted 3 new activated spammer accounts and 7 pending activation. I'm one man against about 1 billion jack-holes. Am I the only one alarmed by the numb...

Spammers

Some of you may have noticed the new user accounts and posts from spammers lately. Unfortunately, the attacks are on the rise big time. I've been manually deleting multiple spammer accounts every day. I am running the latest, most-secure version of the forum software (phpBB). So I'm doing my best to...

Re: Winter Ride to view Bald Eagles

As I know Troy will attest, we roughed it. This was a ride only for the tough. It was horrible. We slept outside in the cold and had to scrounge for bugs to eat. Where did you find that photo, Eddie?! That guy could be my twin! The best hotel in Siloam Springs, OK is the Cherokee Casino. Beautiful ...

Re: Winter Ride to view Bald Eagles

Good ride today! At a great historic hotel in Fayetteville for the night. Belly is bloated from the brew house burger and black bean hummus. Hit temps above 50 this afternoon and enjoyed about 20 miles of gravel and some really great twisty back roads. Looks like we are in for some chilly wet stuff ...

Re: Can a picture be posted on the forum using a iPhone?

The problem (I assume) is simply that the iphone does not support the local file browser that all web browsers use to select the local file you want to upload. So a workaround would be to use whatever app/method/etc you have to upload the photo to an online photo album. Then, link that image in your...

Re: Winter Ride to view Bald Eagles

The roads are still snow pack and ice for at least 12 miles from my house to town. Unless things change I'm iced in. But you are heading my direction so keep me posted I may be able to join up with you as you go south past me ...if I can get out by sat.???? Larry Most folks will probably think I'm ...

Re: Winter Ride to view Bald Eagles

What Eddie said. Eddie and I will be geared up for whatever the weather has in store short of ice on the roads. Forecasts are a bit of a gamble, but by scrapping our Eastbound plans and instead heading South and perhaps West, it looks like we'll be fine. If weather turns worse, we just head more Sou...

Re: Winter Ride to view Bald Eagles

Uh, yeah, that's what it must be. I'm sure the freezing temps have nothing to do with it. I thought "winterize" your bike meant taking it on a multi-day ride in freezing temps. I'm in and really looking forward to it. You know, over the years, I've ridden in terrible rain, freezing temps, wind, mud,...

Re: 2011 Dakar

The Dakar is running RIGHT NOW. The race is 16 days, Jan 1 - 16 with day 8 being a day of rest. You can see some daily video and photos on the official site, but their fancy navigation interface is kind of tricky--so I leave you to figure out for yourself how to change days! Hint: mouse-over instead...

Re: Riding at Perry

Hey, Stu! I agree! I don't "put my bikes away" for the winter. In fact, I don't do anything different in winter with my bikes, and I keep riding them. I ride less in winter, but I ride. HOWEVER, I won't be taking a day off and my weekends are booked with family and holiday obligations in December. :...

Re: Sat, Nov 20: Westphalia, KS Ghost Towns Ride

Kudos to ride leader Larry! We had a total of 16 riders--a big group! Bikes included Honda 230s to KTM 450s to KLRs, a BMW F800GS, a KTM 990, Yamaha WR250R, Husqvarna TE610, and my Vstrom. 3 rock bottom water crossings added excitement and a chance to wash some of the mud off. We rode through a lot ...
