Re: Husqvarna Nuda 900R

I agree with Hayden. I mean, if one was in the garage, I'd ride it--it has sex appeal for sure. But I need form AND function. I don't think I like the hard, angles. I think it would soon be dated and considered ugly. Maybe it is designed to deflect radar like a stealth fighter? http://robservations....

Out of Options Motorcycle Tour

I work for a local stock exchange, and this morning, we had 7 motorcycle riders show up to ring our opening bell. It was pretty cool -- they are raising money for St. Jude's by having folks sponsor them on their 3,200 mile or so ride. They are all guys from the world of Equity Options trading and so...

Re: KLR's & Carburetors Opinions Please

Safiri knows what he's talking about -- both from a pure science perspective and real experience. He's camped off the bike for 7 days up there . I rode my old 1999 DR350 for a week in altitude ranging from 8,500 all the way up to almost 13,000 (Hermit Pass, ended in snow). It was just fine. Above 11...

Re: Sat 7/9: KC to Manhattan

Mac & Savage (and others), what are the non-paved roads like N of Manhattan with the recent rain? On this trip, I want to avoid gumbo. I'll play it flexible of course and just change up the route as I go. Do you Manhattan area guys have a ride plan for Sat or Sun? My plan is flexible, but here are t...

Re: Sat 7/9: KC to Manhattan

Do you think I could meet you in Manhattan just to help unload? Very funny, Eddie. The unloading part of this deal probably will not last more than 2 hours. I HOPE it would be obvious that anyone going along is not obligated to help unload my brother's stuff! Ride out with me, make your o...

Sat 7/9: KC to Manhattan

The title has a dual meaning. 1. My brother, KC , is moving from Wichita to Manhattan. (actually Kechi to Westmoreland) 2. I'm riding from KC, the metro, to Manhattan to help him unload the move. I'm heading out from the S part of Overland Park on the F800 early Sat morning taking a non-Interstate r...

Sounds great! I'll watch my schedule to see if I can join you. Be sure to look at the infamous Hillbilly Dualsport routes. There is a main route file plus some other route tidbits in this thread: http://www.rideforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1145 The gravel is great, but of course the pavement down t...

Re: Honda Crossrunner/Suzuki V-Strom

I rode my 2006 Vstrom 650 for 3 years, so I'm biased, but I think the Vstrom is a decent looking machine. Mine looked even better with me sitting on it--I make that bike look good. 8) I think the 2012 design is pretty darn good--an improvement in my book. After reading a bit more, though, it's not m...

Sounds like you had a good time. Sorry to hear about the leak. Remember: Treat a BMW Adventure bike like a fine woman whereas you can treat a KLR like a $2 hooker. Cough, cough...because a KLR can handle the abuse. When this happened, my thought was, wow--he was probably in first ge...

Re: June 24 & 25: Dualsport Glade Top Trail, Ava, MO

If I had look at your route I would have suggested stopping at the Iconium/Ico general store for a legendary peach nehi float. The Boy Scout camp is right next door and that is a highligt to head to Ico for a float and air conditioning. Apparently, Ico was called Toad Suck and they decided to chang...

Reddof (F800GS), Dave Mac (KLR), Jasoomian (Weestrom), and myself (F800GS). I was breaking in my brand new F800GS. You...
