Re: Riding during hunting season?

I'd give the hunters some distance. Last year a guy rode his ATV off of Spillway Rd. (the asphalt road in front of the ATV riding area at Perry lake), down the gravel road, through the parking area, into the riding area and then proceeded to the south end of the riding area to hunt. He had shotguns...

Re: Riding during hunting season?

If I were out hunting near a road that could be easily traveled by others I would be a complete idiot to be pissed at anyone traveling that said road. On one of my Arkansas rides near White Rock Mountain, a couple of hunters were driving down the road in their truck. They waved us down as we were p...

Re: Sep 17 & 18 2011: Trials Competition!

It is a bit surprising that folks are not coming out of the woodwork to ride with the weather FINALLY turning for us. I think a lot of people have their own things going. For example, I am riding this weekend, but it's not a group thing--some bonding time with my brother. I know others who have ridi...

Doh! I won't be able to make it this Sat, but thanks for putting a ride together, Larry! Riders, you have options this weekend and the weather is great. Seriously, don't worry about the rain--just be glad it's not 100 degrees. Regarding heat, cold, rain, etc--I've ridden in it all and I can honestly...

Re: Sep 17 & 18 2011: Trials Competition!

Hey, fbj913, sorry for the silence on my part! I was out in Tahoe all last week---probably the most beautiful place in the entire country. (Arguable of course.) I think I've made plans to haul my KTM out to Manhattan to spend some time with my brother. If something prevents that trip, I'd like to go...

Re: front fork alighnment

Dave, You should immediately stop riding the bike. Safety FIRST of course. Take the DR650 to a qualified, licensed, Suzuki motorcycle mechanic. You'll want to find an extended-stay hotel because this may take some time. The mechanic will carefully remove the forks according to factory instructions t...

Riding during hunting season?

I am not a hunter. Many of you are. Enlighten me! I've been riding the St. Francis National Forest in Arkansas for the last several years. I ride primarily in Johnson County--the White Rock Mountain area. I've figured out this is "Zone 6" for hunting in Arkansas . I then painstakingly combed through...

Re: Sat Aug 27 Dualsport Ride

I can't speak for all the riders, but I know that stimmer (Jim) and I returned home safely and enjoyed the day! I rode a total of 222 miles with a moving time of just under 8 hours. The weather was almost perfect. Yes, it was a touch hotter than perfect and the dust--oh WOW the dust. There is a huge...

Re: Sat Aug 27 Dualsport Ride

Unless I'm running late, I'll be taking this 25 mile route from my house to Miss B's.

I'll be leaving my house about 6AM. If anyone lives close to 159th & Antioch and wants to ride down with me, just let me know.

Sat Aug 27 Dualsport Ride

I'm inviting you to join me for a day ride. I'm not promising anything great, but I've started a route that starts from the SE side of the metro and heads generally East hitting what looks like the most interesting stuff along the way--lots of gravel I hope. About 100 miles out and meander 100 miles...

Taking off from my house at 8:30am. Looks like I can't do a direct link. Have to got to backroads touring kansas and look in "lets ride the backroads", then under July 23rd Manhattan. I guess I assumed most active members checked out both sites. http://www.backroadstouring.org/kansas/ In mos...

Re: Anyone braving the heat this weekend?

I have the thoughts, but sanity quickly shuts them down. The only riding that interests me right now would be getting up at 5AM to haul my dirtbike to an off-road riding area and riding until about 10AM then heading home to nap in the A/C. That said, if you go on a ride, no doubt you'll be glad you ...
