I would be coming from Garnett and most likey, depending on your friday night location, be hauling the bike to meet up with you. I hope you can come along, Larry. Exactly what time I head out and where...

Re: Arkansas ride Oct. 21-23

Yes I looked it up. Thats the same cabin. Whos up for driving? Trailering? I rode there once. It was quite a long haul from Lawrence. You are thinking of Byrd's River Retreat http://www.byrdsadventurecenter.com/RiversideRetreat.htm This ride is not planning to stay there. They are staying at the MU...

Re: Arkansas ride Oct. 21-23

I will be unable to make this ride due to some family obligations. HOWEVER, I can't emphasize enough how excellent this entire area is for motorcycle riding! EVERYONE who can work this into their schedule should make it happen. It's the perfect time of year as the fall colors should be out. (Muted t...

What kind of ride? Dualsport or gnarly off-road trails?

Thanks for the invite. 8)

Which brings to mind....better to ride after the wheat and corn is down so you can see deer running across the fields.

Re: Dusty Butt 1,000 :?

Sure would take anything to avoid those deer, I was feeling like I was riding quite conservatively for the conditions, but obviously not... Don't be too hard on yourself, Luc. I don't think there is a reasonable "safe" speed to eliminate deer impact related injury. We are talking about something th...

Very minimum maintenance road

I follow the photo albums of Larry "RideKLR" Ostrom. Larry does a lot of backroads touring on his KLR and takes a lot of photos. I particularly liked this minimum maintenance road picture. Both for the road and the old sign--until now, I'd only seen the diamond shaped min maint signs. This is what y...

Re: Tuttle Creek ORV Area

I got the opportunity to explore the Randolph ORV area this past Saturday. I have to say I was really impressed and had a GREAT time on the KTM 450 EXC! I had heard about this area for a few years but always got the impression that with it's focus on rock crawling and 4x4's, it had little to offer m...

Re: Dusty Butt 1,000 :?

Luc, will follow up I'm sure...once he catches his breath.....Luc and his 950 hit a deer this morning and was knocked unconscious for a minute or two. He says "I'm fine" and apparently does not have any injuries but probably suffered a concussion. He and his bike were hauled back home. So no IBA awa...

Re: Dusty Butt 1,000 :?

Safiri, let's back out on KC this weekend and head to Goodland. How hard can it be?! 6 hour drive to Goodland, KS, kickstands up at 4:30 AM tomorrow morning and ride for almost 24 hours at 45+ MPH.....through possibly muddy roads...then 6 hour drive home...ugh.... Can you call it a "Dusty" Butt 1000...

Re: Dusty Butt 1,000 :?

GO LUC, GO! Then after realizing that with necessary breaks you need to average close to 50MPH to make it work...and that many of those hours would be in the dark, I decided it was not for me. Troy, I need to fix up your math, average needs to be 41.66 see that seems a lot more doable now :) I shou...

GO LUC, GO! I read that AdvRider thread , too. I briefly thought about it. Then after realizing that with necessary breaks you need to average close to 50MPH to make it work...and that many of those hours would be in the dark, I decided it was not for me. Luc, however, is a monster rider. Western KS...

Re: Sep 17 & 18 2011: Trials Competition!

I might have been up for this but the weather forecast is looking a little wet this weekend. Trenton is a little far from home for me when there is a good chance of thunderstorms. Jim Carry some $20 raingear from Walmart (hunting dept) and enjoy the ride! I've been intimidated by chance of rain a f...
