Re: Riding Dry Creek Beds.
Yep, thats what I love so much about my HTC EVO phone. Snap pics of car plates, tire tracks, shoe prints in the dirt, video, internet, GPS, Goggle Maps. I told a kid spotlight'n one night when I walked up to talk to him that I had already taken a pic of his tag. So if wanted to drive off, go for it...

Glap to see you guys went UP Pannell Rd. Thats the hard way according to some. I took my group UP that road too. The hard stuff was first thing after a low bridge water crossing. The guys behind me were not too thrilled  Actually, we went down Pannell. North to South. The washed out areas look...

Re: Riding Dry Creek Beds.
Damn. That game camera cost me $180 and the 2 tree stands were just over $100 each. The heavy-duty bolt cutter was $50. These land owners are getting downright hard to deal with anymore.
Seriously though, that is stupid gutsy---cutting a chain, setting up tree stands--wow.

Not really. Burger & ice cream joint in Wathena isn't bad, but Wathena is too early on your route. Eating joints are slim-pickin's up there. Let me know what you all discover!Foster wrote:Any thoughts on some good eats along the way?

Re: Saturday 29th DS Ride near Leavenworth
My $0.02 says there is no way you'll make it from Atchison to White Cloud and back down to Lawrence by lunch or even late lunch. I've done a similar loop a couple times and it just takes time---but you don't mind because it's so fun. All depends on your route of course. Those soft dirt/dust roads up...

I don't think Arkansas has any deer so we should be fine. DOH!ajayhawkfan wrote:Be careful riding at dusk.
The rut is about to start so the deer are doing a lot of moving especially dusk and dawn.

That place looks good, BUT....let's do this place--it looks really cool and offers Panera like sandwiches, soups, coffee, bakery items---are you sure you weren't thinking of this place? It's right around corner from Hampton Inn to the W. http://neighborsmill.com/ http://g.co/maps/u8d2f We'll plan on...

I now figure on camping at Stockton Lake, Missouri Fri night. There are several campgrounds but probably the state campground. Note: everything can change on the fly! http://www.stocktonlake.com/companies/view/118 This is an improvement, I think, because we'll have less miles to cover Saturday...thi...

Re: Motorcycle Club or group for dual sport riders?
There are groups that get together semi-regularly for social time outside of riding, but I'm not directly involved in any....barely get the time to ride let alone leave my wife and kid to go have BBQ with a bunch of moto dudes in the evening! I would not be afraid to just show up for a ride, shake s...

ROUTE INFO Late evening building routes. I have completed routes for this weekend, and it's not for the faint of heart! Note: camping in sub 40 degree weather is involved! Friday night is only 110 miles total of minor highways to Iconium, MO where the plan is to eat great BBQ at the Toadsuck Grill ...

...all I have on hand is a giant loop and the gas cap is behind the seat where the giant loop sets. It is only a problem at refueling time. My brand new Giant Loop Big Basin bag is laying on my F800 right now. I'm hoping I can refuel with the bag on---I think I read that I'll be able to. I'm leanin...
