Re: Trail riding the CRF & MX500
VERY cool!
You: You want to stop and take a break?
Him: No!
My daughter turns 5 in May and I'm looking forward to introducing her to the sport. I call dibs on buying the MX500 off you when your boy outgrows it...which will be in 3 months at this rate.

Re: Routes out of Ouachita National Forest please!
How serious do you want to get with route planning? If you really want to spend the time, go download all the OK DOT county maps for the area you'll be in. These maps have an incredible amount of detail, are usually highly accurate, and actually show you which roads are paved vs gravel vs unimproved...

Re: Routes out of Ouachita National Forest please!
I've not ridden down there, and I'm jealous that you are going. For years, I've wanted to make it down for the big Clayton, OK dualsport event. I'm told the Weyerhauser paper company has (or leases) a huge forest down there with hundreds of miles of logging roads and trails. I know there are some gu...

Cedar Creek Feline Conservatory
I took my wife and daughter to this place today. We really enjoyed it.
http://www.saveoursiberians.org/
It's just E of Louisburg, KS. $5 a head.
We learned that if you are there at 2pm on Sat, you can watch them feed the lions. We'll go back to see that.

Re: March 16-17: Where are we riding?
Glad you guys got out there again! Foster, you didn't like the return route? It was definitely a lot of straight gravel further N, but I think it got really good--rolling hills and twisty sections--near the S part just NW of Atchison. And yes, that "closed" road is good for sure! There are some more...

Re: 6:00 Wednesdays: Lawrence Meetup
I probably should have given everyone a little more notice, but tonight is the first of our weekly Lawrence Motorcycle Meetups for 2012. We'll be at South Park on Mass. Street at 6, so if you're feeling like a ride, you've got a destination! http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=216772&pa...

Re: March 16-17: Where are we riding?
If you follow this link (like Foster gave you), you can see the route and the how many miles each track segment is: http://test.dualsportmaps.com/?link=102895 It's 7 miles of pavement from Leavenworth up to the start of the River Road. Figure 15 minutes. It's 14 miles of dirt river road to Atchison ...

Re: March 16-17: Where are we riding?
KLRed, I'm afraid the route up to White Cloud puts you a REALLY long way from work if you get up into Doniphan County before needing to split off. Basically, your options will be Hwy 7 and 36. You could just do the part from Leavenworth up to Atchison -- a really short run--and head home. Or go all ...

Re: Eureka Springs Arkansas Hillibilly tour March 29-31 201
How technical is the ride? I know these can be pretty challenging. I am looking for just some easy going exploring. I missed the last time this happened and I would really like to make this one if I can. Nick, after riding with you and Chris this past Sat, I am confident that both of you have the r...

Re: Sat March 10 2012: Leavenworth Dualsport Loop
Guys, I think all agreed that most of the NW section of the route could be cut out--the rest of the route is really great stuff! So I tweaked the route to leave out the boring stuff. More than that, I developed a section that connects the River Road just S of Atchison to the stuff W of Leavenworth. ...

Re: Sat March 10 2012: Leavenworth Dualsport Loop
Wow! Great ride today, guys! It was cool when I pulled into the Depot Diner and saw 8 bikes. By the time breakfast was over, we had 11 riders. We enjoyed some great weather and roads today. 245 miles total round trip for me from Overland Park. Once the 95 mile loop W of Leavenworth was finished, 6 o...

I'm tired and trying to build 600+ miles of route by Sat morning will run me ragged, so....let's dualsport out of Leavenworth again this Sat! Easy day ride--about 90 miles. See the thread linked above!

Re: March 10 & 11, 2012 Weekend Ride?
I hope to be riding but can't leave until about 10 on Saturday. If weather permits, I'll head north along the MO river. I need to check out a waypoint or two for that (secret) event I mentioned to you on the phone. Around 4:00 on Saturday where ever I am I'll start looking for a TV to watch KU play...

Kendall, I got to work Fri, sorry. You think your ass can do 600+ miles in 2 days on a DRZ? Foster apparently has the iron butt! I'm leaning towards the 2 day marathon. I guess I'm in the mood. Gas won't be a problem as we'll be able to hit small towns for gas. I think Lawrence makes a fair meeting ...

Re: March 10 & 11, 2012 Weekend Ride?
I would pass on the motel but y'all have fun :) That sounds weak. Then bring your camping gear and camp Sat night--that doesn't prevent you from riding. 8) That motel can't be more than $50/night for a room with 2 beds. $25 if you share a room---cheap. The ride would cost around $50 in gas r...
