Truck & Tractor Pulls...you might be a redneck...

I got these websites from birdman here on the forum. I like to have options like these in my back pocket to build family weekends or rides out of. Some good, redneck fun! http://www.mstpapulling.com/events.html http://www.outlawpulling.com/Events.html Most of these would make a nice dualsport loop f...

Re: Pomme de terre Lake April 27-29th

Routes You can view the routes on DualsportMaps.com (DSM) http://www.dualsportmaps.com/?link=103642 DSM allows you to download to GPX format, but I've provided some files here to make it even easier. I recommend this GPX file that is track-based. (More on that later.) http://www.rideforum.net/files...

Re: Newb Checking in! (with questions)

Bob, THANKS for pointing out the Yamaha options. Not sure how I forgot to list those except I'm probably least familiar with them. I added it to my post above. I've read most all of Big Dog Mark Sampson's reports featuring his little Yama 250. http://bigdogadventures.com/WR250R.htm The bike seems ve...

Re: Pomme de terre Lake April 27-29th

OK, so another friend of mine (whom I trust WAY more than ajayhawkfan--that guy is shifty  ) sent me this waypoint for the Amish general store--just barely W of the point Eddie gave us. It's the green roof building. Lead Mine Country Store He also said the eating is good at Rooster's BBQ & Tun...

Re: Newb Checking in! (with questions)

That KLR must have had lowering links.

Most guys can't comfortably flat foot on a real dualsport bike. These bikes need the ground clearance.

Re: Newb Checking in! (with questions)

Well this could be good timing. I have a 2003 KLX400. Just haven't riden it much lately. It has a set of motard wheels and tires on it now. The dirt wheels with tires are in the garage. Thinking of selling it. Asking $2,500. I'll get some photos and more details up later. Don, Jim's a good guy--you...

Re: Newb Checking in! (with questions)

The good and bad news is that if you want a motorcycle that you can ride 2 hours of roads to the trails, ride the trails, then ride home, your choices are few--depending on how "manly" you are. Also keep in mind that the first dualsport bike you get most likely won't be your last. I highly recommend...

Re: Pomme de terre Lake April 27-29th

Not far is a Amish General Store. N37 48.636 W92 53.628 It is open on Saturday and is worth stopping by. When I stumbled upon it a few years ago there were making homemade ice cream. This sounds like a cool place to stop, but I don't see a store in the satellite images for this spot. Are you sure t...

Re: Pomme de terre Lake April 27-29th

Guys, I've been distracted a lot lately and am just now getting around to planning routes, POIs, etc. As of right now, I don't know that I'll be able to make this ride, but I'm building routes, and I have to say, I'm starting to get excited about the possibilities! I have not personally ridden the a...

Wow! 72,000 sf castle home in the Ozarks

Perhaps old news to some of you, but I just stumbled onto this... Billionaire Steven Huff is building what will be the 4th largest home in America in the Ozarks near Springfield, MO. A mere 72,000 sf. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/44607760/ns/today-today_news/t/take-tour-billionaires-high-tech-castl...

Not surprising since RideForum.NET is the premier dualsport/adventure/trail motorcycle forum on the Internet. Those AdvRider guys have been trying to emulate my fo...

Re: TARKC meeting?

Were they both on KTM's? If so, they rode by our camp at one point, but didn't stop. I was really surprised that we didn't see more bikes at Mulberry, especially with WUDI and the HIllbilly Dual Sport going on. Also, I was surprised that we didn't see many bikes out on the road- I guess we must hav...

I was at the Mulberry Mtn Lodge Sat night for dinner with my buddies staying in their "Star" cabins. I was staying up the road at ...

Re: Routes out of Ouachita National Forest please!

Kind of interesting...I got an email sent to notify@rideforum.net today from someone who works for the US Forest Service. He had some good information to share: I’m no rider, but you have inquiry about riding opportuntities in SE Oklahoma. Check out Weyerhauser Roads around Broken Bow Lake as possib...
