Re: 5/26 or 5/27 or 5/28 - Dual Sport Ride

I plan to be on a 3 day moto adventure in the Mark Twain forest of Eastern Missouri Fri - Sun. What part of the Mark Twain will you be in? My dad lives just east of Roaring River State Park near the forest. I definitely want to do some dual sporting in his neck of the woods one of these days. About...

Re: Chadwick May 28-31

If you are renting these cabins, you'll love them--great cabins and location. http://outdoor-inspirations.net/index.html I'm not a Chadwick expert, but I can tell you that Chadwick eats dirt bikes. I've done more damage to my bikes at Chadwick than anywhere else I ride. Plenty of steep, rock ledge h...

Bears of the Last Frontier

I was lucky to catch about 30 minutes of hour 1 of this 3 part Nature series on PBS. http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/bears-of-the-last-frontier/introduction/6524/ I found it fascinating. Chris Morgan is an ecologist specializing in bears and does a wonderful job narrating this series which f...

Re: TAR June 5th meeting

Another idea... The local dualsport community has used the Pizza Shoppe in Smithville for meetings before. They also have a banquet room. Smithville Pizza Shoppe near Motorcycle Closeouts Motorcycle Closeouts is open until 7pm for anyone wanting to pick up a few things before the meeting. http://www...

Re: School Creek at Milford Lake Saturday May 12

My brother Troy and I did a camp N ride weekend at Milford a few years back. There are a number of Geocaches around the lake including one that used to be inside the School Creek riding area. It was a pretty fun ride all the way around the lake finding the caches. That was a good time, KC! I also r...

Kendall, I like your avatar pic--it was taken 1/4 second before that ninja snuck up behind you and killed you.

Re: Eastern Wabaunsee Co. Saturday - May 5th

Hello, Larry! Thanks for posting this up and your willingness to let some folks tag along. I'm heading to Paris with my wife this Saturday, so I'm out for the ride. We have a lot of new folks on the forum that perhaps don't know Larry, so let me just say that if you can make the ride, you will not b...

Re: TAR May 1st GPS training

Thanks, all, for coming. I enjoyed it. Thanks for being patient with the minor technical difficulties along the way. I was concerned the Pizza Shoppe would not have WiFi, and they did not. I was concerned they would not have appropriate cables to connect to their projector, and I they did not. Lucki...

Re: Pomme de terre Lake April 27-29th

Kendall & Allisa, thanks for posting! I was wondering if my route ran you all off a cliff or something! That campground looks beautiful in your photo. I take it you did not get a chance to try the short loops to the N--the one that hits that dirt road with 3+ water crossings? Where did you gu...

Re: TAR May 1st GPS training

Turns out we are not guaranteed Internet access at the Pizza Shoppe. The class will be somewhat less useful without access. So if any of you planning to attend have a WiFi card or a tethering plan that turns your phone into a hotspot, please call me.

Stupid Things Faster With More Energy

About a week ago, a buddy & I met in Jasper, AR to ride the big bikes in the forest. Day one of my 3 day ride report is ready and includes photos and videos.

GPS HOWTO Let me start off by saying I don't claim to be a GPS expert. I'm aware that there is more that I don't know than what I know. My experience and the tutorial will be centered around working with Garmin devices and software. Actually, my experience is quite narrow in that my only real exper...

Re: Pomme de terre Lake April 27-29th

Yeah, I don't know about that. I do know that several of the roads around Truman dead end into the lake. Fairfield that is near there was a town that is now under the lake. I know the highway leading to it dead ends. Worse case I guess would be turn around if it was under water and best case a cool...

Re: Pomme de terre Lake April 27-29th

TL*5, thanks for the info. Hope you can make it and offer the local color. I'm told the Peach Nehi floats are the main attraction at Scott's General Store in Iconium. I can vouch that the BBQ at the Toadsuck Grill in Iconium is very good, but they are only open part of the year and even then just a ...
