Use Basecamp? Beware of losing your data!

That title might be alarmist, but...I want those of you that, like me, are making the transition from Mapsource to Basecamp to realize the danger here. Here is a link to a post of mine and the Garmin support reply: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?30531-Slicing-a-COPY-of-a-track-still-modifi...

Re: Trail Riding with the Bird Man

Someday I'm going to ride one of those orange bikes just to see. DO NOT RIDE one of those orange bikes unless you are ready to buy one! It's a trap! One of my favorite tag lines I've seen on AdvRider belongs to BigDog, Mark Sampson . I don't know if it's his quote or one he heard, but: It takes 12 ...

Re: October ride

Saturday After breakfast, we'll ride down to the Mount Magazine area--the highest point in Arkansas. Do you have a "kickstands up" time for Saturday morning? My brother and I are going to have to meet up with you at this point, and are trying to work out the logistics. 9am? 10am? As long as we know...

Re: October ride

Is this ride starting in Fayetteville, Ozark MO or Ozark AR? I was not at the meeting so it is not clear to me. I thought I'd made it clear in the first post (I edited allkidd's original post). Then I reread it and son-of-a-gun if I didn't put Ozark, MO in there. Doh! It's Ozark, AR. I fixed the po...

Re: October ride

If it rains, or is supposed to that weekend, are we still on for the ride or will we move the ride to the other weekend we were considering? I figure that some moderate trails become impassable on big bikes, but I have been wrong before. The TARKC Godfather (Randy, allkidd) needs to vote, but I can...

I assume you mean September--not October. Do you mean Sat, Sep 15?

TIP: Create a brand new Ride thread for this new ride. Otherwise it can get lost this far down in a previous ride thread.

An yes before you know it you will be trading up for just a little more power and a little more suspension ! :) Everybody gets the bug! And when Eddie gets the bug, you get a...

Re: October ride

How much riding is going on Friday? Or do we know yet? Friday We'll ride forest roads and throw in some trail sections as we make our way down to Ozark, MO. Along the way, we may hit highlights such as the White Rock overlook, Shores Lake, Bee Rock, etc. Trail sections may include parts of the Mill...

Re: October ride

The good news is that Ozark is 30 minutes closer than Fayetteville. Wrong. I assume you used Google Maps. It's very strange, but Google Maps chooses Ozark, MO when you enter Ozark, AR. Ozark, AR is all the way down just S of Highway 40 W of Clarksville. Bing Maps gets it correct. http://binged.it/S...

So you are recommending a rat bike for the farm? If it breaks use it for erosion control on a creek bank?

Stu
Or as fish habitat in the creek behind his cabin. The batteries are guaranteed not to leak for at least 6 months.

Re: Trail Riding with the Bird Man

We all have lots of advice! Really, you can't go wrong buying any used bike for the right price. A 5+ year old bike is not going to depreciate much in 6 months. Buy it right. Ride it. If/when you decide it's not the right bike for you, sell it and move on. Heck, you might even make a profit in the s...

Re: Sep 22, 2012: Mark Twain Dualsport

But overall, Stu, do you like the new bike?

If safiri lets me borrow his trailer, and he usually does, with my truck, I can take 4 bikes and 4 guys and gear. The largest expense on these trips anymore is the gas to get there and back. If we can split it 4 ways, it helps a lot.
