Re: October ride

...so I hope we don't need to do much over 55-60. When I'm leading, I tailor the pavement top speed to the "slowest" bike. So if everyone is comfortable running 80 except one bike that can't go more than 60, we'll keep it to 60 and under. 60 is about where I like to cruise my EXC450 on pavement. No...

Re: October ride

In my experience, I'm happier being too cold on the road to the trails and then being comfortable while working in trails all day as opposed to being nice and cozy on the road ride then overheated all day in the trails. Other than winter road-riding, thermal long underwear has always been a mistake ...

Re: Routes & Tracks

I tried making a track in google and first, it was difficult to find the editing tools, once found I was not able to drag the track like I can in basecamp or dual sport maps, it would only draw a very short track and only directly on roads in google map. What is wrong with using basecamp to make tr...

Re: October ride

Regarding weather, I want to reassure folks that the rain should not cause much issue for this ride. 98% of the route wont be affected by rain. The roads and trails are so rocky the rain won't matter. I can think of one of the old logging roads in the route that might get muddy, but I'm not concerne...

KS Gypsum Hills Camp & Ride

I can't go, and I only know spotty details, but I want to post at least this information for those that can do this ride--it's a great area to dualsport! Over in the AdvRider Kansas Riders thread , they are discussing a dualsport camping weekend in the Gypsum Hills. I think it is planned for the Oct...

Re: Use Basecamp? Beware of losing your data!

Troy, did you see the RR I added to the above post? 8) BTW, check the attachment.. Dean, NO I did not see that report. Thanks for drawing my attention to it! I agree with Kendall---one of the best as far as Colorado singletrack ride reports. I'll try to get there and hit that singletrack in 2013 or...

Re: Routes & Tracks

Holy crap. When do you find time to ride? No doubt this stuff takes time. If you are a typical guy, add up the hours you spend watching, listening, and discussing sports. When you are doing that, I'm geeking out on GPS stuff or reading ride reports on AdvRider.com. (I'm the guy who, on the day of t...

A taste of trail to come!

Some NW AR locals rode Mountain Creek "road" this past weekend. This trail is part of our Sun route back up to Fayetteville. Check out their photos and a couple of short video clips in this AdvRider thread. Start about 10 photos down in the post. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1971033...

My next CO2 Inflator

I just stumbled upon this CO2 inflator. MINIMAL size and apparently high quality and highly functional. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41Xpyj9qEWL._SL500_AA300_.jpg (Yes, the link above is a RideForum.net associate link that earns me money if you purchase. Routes & Tracks

I recently put together the routes for the TARKC Arkansas ride , and had some thoughts on how folks might use them on their devices...or at least how I figure I'll use them. I frequently get asked questions--or witness confusion--regarding routes vs tracks. The majority of riders use Garmin devices,...

Troy, How about posting pics of your "Frankenstein" stitching of your 450 after Chadwick??? That was really classy! https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-XPO2Rd_48Kk/TvHTH13EwAI/AAAAAAAAADg/gffISHj1yVY/s400/PB123271.JPG Heat gun, vice-grips holding a phillips-head screw-driver, and zip-ties. Did you see his head out the window when the car rolled?! Looked like he got slammed....but helmet, 5-point harness, roll-cage...I guess it all works.

Re: ICON Short Film featuring 2 Tiger 800XCs

In another ICON short film, the riders cut the chain off a locked gate marked "NO TRESPASSING" then run from a police officer. That's probably a bad idea, too! :)
