Re: Want a dirt bike

How about a 2006 YZ125? Thanks, Jim. I don't think I want a 125, but...it would surely get the job done. My timeline goal is to have something in time to take to Disney for my brother-in-law to ride. Then it will be a spare bike in my garage that will allow me to take friends dirt-biking at closed ...

Tenting is cool...also note that Kendall has a spare bed in his trailer...I think.

Re: Want a dirt bike

Did you ride them both to compare? The X's are harder to come by for a good price. If you want e-start you might look for a WR250F. I did not get to ride the X...and he lives in a "nice" hood, so really test riding a dirt bike there is heavily frowned upon. I just rode the R 1 block up the street h...

Re: October 26-28: Off-Road at Disney, OK

I just rented this baby from Midwest Camper Rental for my accomodations, so I won't need your bed, Kendall! https://cache.nebula.phx3.secureserver.net/obj/MzM3OTk3MzVGQTkzN0I2RkMzMDE6ZjkxMmU2YWVjZDI2ZWM2YjI3ZjA1YzQ2NGZjNjA0YTQ=?uid=c1d8a0ae-976b-40fd-906a-de0982dc7895 It has 3 nice beds plus a crapp...

Re: October ride

Anyone have coordinates to that first pictures? Looks like a neat place. Jim Nope. I like to keep it secret. I took away everyone's GPS units and they had to ride blindfolded. Total carnage. That photo was taken on the falls in Frog Bayou. https://maps.google.com/maps?q=35.759899,-93.974576&l...

You and Nick can fight over this DR-Z250.

Re: Want a dirt bike

CRF230 is a great bike of course, and the right choice for many. For what I want to do with it, the 250 or 450 will suit me better. I went to look at that 2004 CRF250R last night. Really nice guy who takes great care of his bikes--or just doesn't ride or abuse them much--hard to tell. I like the bik...

Re: October 26-28: Off-Road at Disney, OK

UPDATE I just spoke to Hogan on the phone. Oct 27 & 28 is definitely his annual Octoberfest weekend. He is booked that weekend, although he tells me if we arrive earlier on Fri, we'll be able to get some spots to put camping trailer(s) and tents. I told him I'd heard Octoberfest was the prior weeke...

Re: Want a dirt bike

Looking closer its a CRF250R. So I guess no e start and tighter gears. Fine for closed trail systems like Chadwick.

Want a dirt bike

I'm looking for a 250 to 450 dirt bike. I want something that I can abuse at off-road riding areas. My goals are multiple including the desire to take a buddy along for day of dirt biking despite the fact he does not have a bike. Another idea is that I'd be able to practice stuff like riding wheelie...

Re: Wife's First Bike/ my trail bike...

Nick, I had never heard of the DR-Z250, but check this out. Looks like a near perfect trail bike for the wife. And at only $1,700 for what is supposedly a good as new bike.

Re: October ride

So, I just want to say this was a great weekend. The planning was well thought out, thanks Troy for putting together some great rides. I really appreciate everyones help after my bike took a "bath". Anyone got a video? This was a great group to ride with. Thanks for all the "thanks", guys! There wa...

Re: October ride

Here are the "keepers" from the photos and videos I took. With the dark, overcast skies most of the weekend, and being deep in the trees, the lighting made it difficult to get decent, non-blurry photos with a crappy camera. But...enjoy! Here are all my photos. A couple of teaser shots! https://lh4.g...

Re: October 26-28: Off-Road at Disney, OK

I'll talk to Jessie tonight. I think I can make this work but I would have to come down Friday night. No problem--it's the kind of deal where even if all you do is come down for one day, you'll have fun. If you have other off-road toys, bring them. I've even seen guys running their off-road RC truc...

Re: October 26-28: Off-Road at Disney, OK

Is this ride drz friendly? Sounds like maybe not but I remain dirtbikeless for the moment. It is as DRZ-friendly as the Huckleberry Horse trails where you rode the DRZ on Saturday. So YES! Depending on how much "fun" you want to have, I recommend you remove the turn signals and mirrors. Mirrors for...

If that was the roughest trails you've ridden, nobody could tell--you handled it like an old pro.

This turned out to be a DRZ ride--5 of 8 bikes were DRZs!

Re: October ride

Like I always say, I've never (so far) regretted a ride due to weather. However, by 5pm Fri after 3 soaking wet hours in Frog Bayou, running 60 MPH down the highway to the motel in 45 degrees....well....kinda sucked. Oh, and somewhere in the bayou, my rear wheel bearings shot crap. This subsequently...

Cold?! By the end of Fri, we were very wet and chilled. My rear wheel bearings are shot so fixing that is my job today. Having a blast.

Re: October ride

Quick update on jasbaum and my status. Due to Friday work conflicts, we'll be heading down tomorrow late-afternoon/evening. We'll either unload in Fayetteville or Mulberry Mountain Lodge (depending on the weather, and when we get out of KC), meeting the group in Ozark tomorrow night. Thanks for the...
