Re: Air Powered Motorcycle

I continue to be fascinated by alternatives to fossil fuels. I do look forward to a hopefully cleaner, more efficient tomorrow. This compressed air engine idea is really cool, but here is an article that explains how the process of compressing the air in the first place is terribly inefficient. http...

Re: Electric motorcycles

My phone is charged and waiting for Letko to call me after 6 to let me know I've won my new Zero Motorcycle! I just found out the bike they are giving away is a 2011 X, the off-road only model. The drawing is after close at 6pm. My neighbors will not hear me playing in my backyard! WOOHOO! 2-stroke?...

Re: Terra 650

Cool to see that BigDog Mark Sampson has one and did a video review. Mark has ridden more bikes more miles than most of us ever will. I respect his opinion on motorcycles a great deal. I can't believe the low price of the TR650! It's barely more than a new KLR650 and SO MUCH more capable. I was surp...

Re: October 26-28: Off-Road at Disney, OK

Thanks for that Foster. I updated the first post a few days ago with a Map Link and directions to the campground. It's right in Disney and easy to find, but I don't think there are any signs off the main drag. The forecast now shows dry Fri - Sun! The rain has moved out of the forecast for tomorrow!...

Re: October 26-28: Off-Road at Disney, OK

There are probably hundreds of acres of SOLID rock to play on. Some folks don't think this sounds fun, but at least for me, it was a blast to play on the solid rock. Lots of fun climbs and drops--all with 100% traction. It beats you up a bit, and you get tired quickly. There are lots of hill climb k...

Re: Bikes stolen at Chadwick!

Awesome! The best details seem to be on the HillBilly Gran Prix site. Starting about 1/2 way down this thread you see they arrested 2 guys and recovered several bikes and quads already. http://www.hillbillygp.com/forums/messages.aspx?TopicID=3584&lastpage=1&MessageID=22302#post22302 From quick readi...

Bikes stolen at Chadwick!

Heads up. Reported on several forums--figured it wise to share with our community, too. http://www.wfotrailriders.com/showthread.php?tid=676 We need to show these thieves that the community is strong and connected. You steal a bike, you will not be able to sell it without getting caught because the ...

Re: Bead Locks for '12 690 ER

Dude. If you want to run dirt trails, get a trail machine. Perhaps this one:

At the point you find yourself needing to run bead locks and 12 PSI in your 690 tires, perhaps you are moving beyond 690 territory? Let it go, man. Let it go.

As of right now, I'm planning on heading down Thursday after work, so I can reserve the spaces when I get there. Hopefully, he doesn't expect $$ for the reservations since I can't really float 5 RV spaces for a couple of nights each! Thanks, Kendall! I am confident that you can just tell Hogan the ...

Minor details updated on first post . We want to know who expects to reach the campground first. It will be your duty to secure enough space for the group. Right now, that looks like 5 RV spaces. (minimum 4). Weather is looking pretty decent for our weekend! The chance of rain expected for Fri keeps...

Re: So Mr. Giant, sir, how is that grand basin?

I had a Vstrom 650 with plastic Givi cases side and top. I loved those cases. Very light weight, water-proof, locking, and durable--very easy to work with. A snap to take off the bike and take into motel room--look like suitcases basically. You can pack your cases in your comfy temperature controlle...

Re: So Mr. Giant, sir, how is that grand basin?

Perhaps I should add that the Great Basin bag is a pain in the arse to get in and out of. You have to remove at least 3 straps and sometimes 5 depending on what you need to get out. Standard side and top cases are a breeze to open when you quickly need to get something. The Great Basin not so much. ...

Re: So Mr. Giant, sir, how is that grand basin?

Until Mr. GS Giant can reply, I'll chime in. I love my Great Basin , and use it on my BMW F800 GS. The bag is not cheap, but it should last many years, and for the off-road scenarios I always end up in, this bag serves me well. http://www.giantloopmoto.com/products/great-basin-saddlebag http://cdn.s...
