Eagle Ranch, Collins, MO

RE: http://www.eagle-ranch.com/ OK, so I've heard about this place for a couple years. It's primarily a horse trail riding outfit, but they open the trails to motorized use during winter. According to our own Rusty Jug (Todd), this coming weekend (Dec 1) is the start of the winter session. The ranch...

Re: Sat Nov 24, 2012 Trails & Gravel Roads

I didn't take any photos either, but Larry got a few and a video of us zipping along in the dry creek. I'm sure he'll share them when he figures out how to get the video online! :) According to Larry's bike, we did 20 miles of trail riding before heading to lunch. That's a lot of zipping around! The...

Re: Sat Nov 24, 2012 Trails & Gravel Roads

There is no reason why I cannot go. Might not be a lot more chance this year. Troy if you are riding alone I got no problem car pooling, however with it being about an hours drive might be more trouble than it is worth to load the bike up twice. Jim Agreed. We live a long way from each other and no...

Re: Sat Nov 24, 2012 Trails & Gravel Roads

FYI, Larry's place is about a 75 minute drive from the KC metro. I created a Google Map from Garnett to help you find his place . I'm definitely hauling the bike down. My goal is to arrive at Larry's farm well before 9:30. I figure I'll head out about 8AM. (Perhaps earlier.) If folks are interested ...

Re: Sat Nov 24, 2012 Gravel Roads

Larry, At one time you mentioned also riding some trails at your place...are you still thinking that or more just gravel? The reason I'm asking is that, like Troy, I'm not sure whether to ride my 800GS or haul my 450. The other issue is that it may be cold and I'm a wimp about riding in the cold. I...

Re: Sat Nov 24, 2012 Gravel Roads

I'm IN. I might ride my F800 down to Garnett or haul my 450 EXC. I have not decided. If someone wants to haul down with me, post up. There is a chance our new member, DenniSMC , will join us. He moves to KC from PA end of this week to start a new job! We need to give him a good KS welcome. (I'm not ...

Re: Day after Thanksgiving

We can do a ride after you get off work until dark! :) I would like to see some back country and a place to eat off the beaten path sweet! This foodie is all in! If it works out? The "back country" up this way is not as interesting as the back country where you live. Also, it can be 20+ miles of pa...

Re: Day after Thanksgiving

I have to work until at least noon this Fri. My family will still be out of town, so I could be free to ride Fri afternoon and/or Sat. The Fri & Sat forecasts are not bad--sunny and above 50 degrees. Birdman (Larry) has a route he wants to lead in Eastern Anderson County, KS. (90 minutes S of the me...

No follow-up. I guess everyone on the ride died. Very tragic. Box Turtle road can be tough, but not THAT tough.

I had the privilege Saturday of riding the trails on Birdman's farm. VERY FUN!

Re: 4th Annual Winter Bald Eagle Ride, January 18-21, 2013

Alright, I'm shopping for a heated jacket liner. Anybody got any feedback on what they are using? I want the best, as I think it's gonna be cold in Jan. :D I'm not an expert in the area, and was a bit overwhelmed with confusing options when shopping for mine. The stuff aint cheap, either. I got my ...

Glad the bike is going to be OK. HAHAHAHAHA! Seriously, glad your wife is OK. Good for her that she kept riding--she got back on that horse. Sounds like a keeper there, Nick! Yes, the first thing you want to do when your wife makes a mistake and is upset is to point out the obvious logic mistakes in...

Re: Tire. Is it trash?

I second what safiri said. I doubt you ripped the bead on the tire so bad that it's not usable, but when you remove the tire, you should be able to ascertain if the tire damage was related to the hole in the tube. I also second that I'm not afraid of patches--not sure why some folks are. If the patc...

Re: Tire. Is it trash?

Keep in mind that if you were to ask a mechanic shop or tire manufacturer, the answer will of course be "yes, the tire is trash". Their primary concern is CYA. It's like asking a doctor on the phone if you should come in to have a rash checked out. They risk nothing to tell you "yes", but if they te...
