Re: GS tire?

I'm definitely not a tire (or riding) expert, and I tend to lean way towards the off-road side. While knobbies are not as good on pavement as a good street tire, street tires REALLY suck off-road. Therefore, I make the compromise towards a knobbier tire and just deal with the road vibration, noise, ...

Re: Mini-bikes

Savage will chime in regarding his MX500, which is a substantially better machine. My MX350 is a bit jerky. In fact, the "throttle" is really just a power on switch when you roll it back. So it's either full speed or nothing. I had to teach the neighbor kids to wap the throttle on and off frequently...

Re: Dec 4th Freedom meeting-6:30

I knew it! I could have had another bike! :( Did they talk much about the automatic clutch? We did. Basically sounds like the latest version, which cost over $800 or something like that is a much improved design offering relatively flexible adjustments to make the clutch respond the way you like. T...

I see what you mean, but I assumed with no estrogen involved it wouldn't be an issue.
O well, no biggie.

Re: Dec 4th Freedom meeting-6:30

Hope your daughter gets well soon, Todd. Sorry you missed the meeting. Freedom gave a free motorcycle to all in attendance--too bad you weren't there. Ryan got pulled over by the police as he left Freedom Cycles. What was the outcome of that? Speeding I assume? Many thanks to Scott and Freedom...

Re: Tire Balls

Tire Balls are used in Off Road Vehicles only. I've never considered them because until very recently, I've never owned a strictly off-road motorcycle. Now that I have the old 300 EXC, I suppose I could, but.... I only ride my off-road-only motorcycle in closed riding areas. This means, it's almost...

Re: Dirtbikes & Soldiers

Notes to self and interested parties Polaris and others sometimes offer grants up to $10K to support trail maintenance, education, safety, etc. Example: http://www.pi54.com/ATV/PDFs/TRAILSGrantAppForm.pdf To receive grants, attract sponsors, and to protect folks from liability issues, is it necessa...

Re: Mini-bikes

Luc, If your son ends up having difficulty with Savage's MX500, I have an MX350 you can borrow for a few months. It's quite a bit tamer than the 500. http://www.razor.com/products/electric-ride-ons/mx350/ Kyle actually bought it for his niece & nephew. They rode it a lot but finally outgrew it. Kyle...

Re: Secret Santa

Ah yes, finally a good way to get rid of my used riding shorts. OK...I'm gonna say it. After many years of participating in various gift exchanges with family, friends, and co-workers, I've seen all the ways these things can frustrate and disappoint. So I'm out. Perhaps another indicator is th...

Re: Secret Santa

You are going to hate me for this, but my problem is that I'm REALLY lazy. I'd be 100% in IF I didn't have this fear that I'll simply put off actually boxing and shipping my item, and thus let somebody down. It's a chore I'd have to put on my list of things I'm failing to get done in this already cr...

Not sure if it's the way my browser is configured (Chrome), but I don't see any vendor links at the bottom of this or any other page on RideForum. However, I did create bookmarks as instructed in your later post. Christmas shopping is still in full swing, so I should be able to throw some traffic t...

Re: School Creek Trail Maintenance Day

I'm in. ... I've got a chainsaw, handsaws, hatchets, etc. that I'd be willing to bring out. I wish I had a four wheeler for stuff like this, but that would be hard to justify since I could have another bike for what that would cost! :D Cool, Kendall! At least the way I envision this working, it won...

School Creek Trail Maintenance Day

School Creek Trail Maintenance Day Saturday November 23 All important details at: http://SchoolCreek.org/ (old, original discussion below) I have to admit, I've ridden thousands of miles of trails over the last several years, yet I've not done a single day of trail maintenance. I always let myself ...

Re: Random thought

Interesting, Stu. A few years ago, we had a forum member who was based out there for awhile and he talked about riding his dirtbike on the base property trails. It's a HUGE area. As I recall, it was very restricted both in when and where you could ride. I know the military uses motorcycles, and it s...

Re: Sunday Dec 2: School Creek

Currently Sunday's high is supposed to be 52 degrees and rain chance of 20%. This may be our last chance for a while since snow is predicted for Sunday night with the high on Monday being about 34. Forecasts have a habit of shifting by 24 hours either way. When I see a forecast like that for 6 days...
