Re: LABOR DAY WEEKEND 2-DAY!
From all of the details, I can only imagine that finding this in the dark will be an adventure in and of itself. It's not a well-lit area and cell coverage is near non-existent, although most folks manage to get a weak signal if holding tongue just right at Link's place. Probably a bad idea t...

Re: LABOR DAY WEEKEND 2-DAY!
More tips to help you find Co 862 in the dark. When driving E on Hwy 72, you'll pass through Bunker. You'll go about 9 miles past Bunker. JUST before Co 862, you'll see a small electrical station with a light on your left (N side of road). Also, you will have just passed a huge railroad tie plant on...

Re: LABOR DAY WEEKEND 2-DAY!
Pretty sure I 'm in! :D Providing I can get the bike maintenance done in time (and I should) I am good to go. I am assuming I can search either here or Google for an address for the cabins. This is my first trip in about 7 months! \m/ COOL! http://www.freemanoffroad.com/where.html If you are arrivi...

Re: LABOR DAY WEEKEND 2-DAY!
Jim (and others?), Kyle & I finalized our logistics. He will drive his big truck pulling his 20' enclosed trailer. He will arrive at my house in Overland Park between 9 and 9:30 AM Fri morning. We will drive over to Jim's place and pick up Jim, bike, & gear before heading to the Freeman Off-Road Res...

Re: LABOR DAY WEEKEND 2-DAY!
I can leave whenever. Early Friday, mid day, late afternoon... whatever and I will get off of work. Do I need to bring anything to eat? Or are we eating somewhere in the area each day. No worries either way just wondering what I needed to gather before leaving. My bike isn't legal but I figured I w...

Re: LABOR DAY WEEKEND 2-DAY!
Troy, things are still up in the air for me. Go ahead and plan on letting someone else have my seat. Hopefully I can manage to go but I wouldn't be leaving until later Friday afternoon no matter what. I should know tomorrow or Wednesday for sure. I will plan on driving down there after work and jus...

AUGUST 2013 UPDATE: If I'm reading my CommissionJunction account report correctly, I believe I've accrued about $95.00 in commissions, but payout does not happen until I reach $100. So... THANK YOU UNFORTUNATELY, thanks to new pending Internet tax laws and how KS plans to react, many affiliate progr...

Re: LABOR DAY WEEKEND 2-DAY!
Just a few days until GO TIME. It is time to nail down logistics so Kyle & I can plan our timing and whether we tow his trailer or not. Kyle & I have this Fri off, but are not necessarily in a rush to get down there Fri. We'd like to head out in time to get there before dark--it's just over a 5 hour...

I CAN'T BELIEVE MORE OF YOU AREN'T IN for this ride! BIG BIKE folks--all you have to do is download the route file from Link's website and go have a blast. I rode all of it and it's excellent big bike stuff with enough hairy sections to make it interesting. http://www.freemanoffroad.com/dualsport.ht...

At my level, I should probably remove the tire and ride on the bare rim just to even the playing field with all you amateurs. Yeah, I'm that good.

Re: LABOR DAY WEEKEND 2-DAY!
I am stoked about riding. My boy is playing football for the first time this year and games start on the 7th. So not sure how many free weekend's I'll get this fall. Thinking of taking the trials tire off the bike and putting on a dirt tire. Good call for Freemans? Jim For the last 2 years when I s...

Talimena National Scenic Byway
Just a quick post to say that the Talimena National Scenic Byway is a GREAT road! Jasoomian & I took our adventure bikes on a 2 day Ouchita forest ride this past weekend with an overnight in Mena. We took the Talimena Scenic Bypass along the way. Amazing road with amazing views!

Re: LABOR DAY WEEKEND 2-DAY!
Regarding "do I need a plated bike", and "which bike to bring". My original post tries to make this clear, but I have to be careful in what I post. If you want to ride in the forest and sleep peacefully at night knowing that you rode only legally allowed trails, you should click this link, read, and...

You took some really great photos, savage! I love small town, and that looked very small town. That gunship bike is way cool. I don't want to know what it weighs! It looked authentically dirty, too. Was it?

5-star accommodations. 5-star dining. Easy gravel roads and well groomed trails. In full disclosure (I don't want anyone feeling lied to), MoRidin is being a bit sarcastic in his statement! For rustic cabins in the forest the accommodations including the shower house are quite nice actually, and th...

In order to help folks organize rides, let us know what bike(s) you plan to bring--especially those not planning to follow Link on the singletrack. Thanks!
I've had a blast down there on both my dirt bike and my adventure bike. More than enough to keep you entertained for a couple days!
