Re: Mentors WANTED: Father & Son Dirt Bike Adventures

How are you guys thinking about getting the word out to people? Getting the word out is not the problem. Finding weekend days in the schedule to host the events is the hard part. We already have a short waiting list. We also have contacts who are ready to refer people as we have capacity. So no adv...

Luc! Considering the number of little riders expected, that figure 8 probably needs to become a loop.

new riders + immaturity + figure 8 = PAIN

Re: Mentors WANTED: Father & Son Dirt Bike Adventures

You mentioned needing youth gear, but I will have that adult gear that I texted you about at the TARKC ride if you still want it. I figure some of the dads and possibly some of the older sons that don't have any background with dirt bikes could use it. Alissa has some adult women's gear as well tha...

Re: Mentors WANTED: Father & Son Dirt Bike Adventures

Troy count me in. I have a 230 in my barn in the country. I would also be willing to buy a 50 and/or 100 for people to borrow. If anyone has one for sale or sees one let me know. You are a good man, Eddie. For newbies, it comes down to feeling comfortable sitting on the bike, and that means seat he...

Mentors WANTED: Father & Son Dirt Bike Adventures

"Do you realize that for a lot of boys in Johnson County, their greatest memory with dad is going to the movies?" Sitting there enjoying my Panera breakfast, those words pierced my heart and have stuck with me for the last 5 years. My pastor friend went on to share with me how he had grown up in Ca...

Update -- another rider backed out. As of this post we have 3 empty beds in the lodge plus couches and tons of floor space for air mattresses.

NO MIKE! That sucks. Gonna miss you.

MrHix wrote:Does that mean I get a bed instead of the floor?
Yes. It does.

We had multiple mistakes in the list and now that HanesAnizer and son are out, we actually have 2 beds left...but not for long.

Re: May 2-4: TAR Spring Ride

I updated the FIRST POST to hopefully make the list a bit clearer.

Who is "Steve T"? Also, Steve Shearer, are you coming?

(Randy if/when you need to edit the table, copy & paste into Notepad, edit, then copy back between the "monospace" tags.)

Re: May 2-4: TAR Spring Ride

Others gave good loading advice, but I want to echo what Bob said. Even a small advantage helps a lot. I live in a culdesac, but just positioning my truck so the back wheels are in the gutter gives me several inches of advantage with my slightly uphill driveway. I have to block my street for a few m...

Re: May 2-4: TAR Spring Ride

As Troy so smartly predicted "some will back out", I have to back out. A recurring back injury is the culprit. This should leave a lodge bed open. If I'm too late and this causes a problem, please let me know. I'll come down, hang out and rehab in the beautiful lodge while you guys ride. It's...

Re: May 2-4: TAR Spring Ride

Troy, I have a 100+ mile track on dirt roads I did Friday @ WUDI I can share. The Sat DS ride was short but scenic and I have that too. I also have some pavement that I think you and Sean did a while ago. Friday Q is good for me. Cheers, Mike, how would you feel about putting together a "dualsport"...

Re: May 2-4: TAR Spring Ride

Cool. When I was down there for WUDI, I ate at Backwoods BBQ Thur & Sat nights. GOOD Q! I talked to Cory & Anita, and Cory is ready to cook for us. I have decided that it's easy for me just to drive up and get the food, so that's what I'll do. Makes it easier for Cory & Anita, too. Do you guys want ...

Thanks, Daniel! It is a bummer, but had to cancel. Looking forward to the work we'll be doing there. Reece Nelson of the Corps has been great to coordinate with.

Jodi, Rachel, and I are IN. (PLEASE don't screw us over, Mother Nature!) Motomann, you mentioned a small ATV I can borrow? Rachel would definitely LOVE that. She has ridden them before and lit up when I mentioned the possibility. We'll get together regarding logistics--I could borrow bro-in-law's tr...

Nice pics! I know others took more, so where might they be?? I normally take lots of photos and videos, but I simply was not motivated to do pics on this trip, so I didn't. I think because I've ridden the area so much, and have hundreds of photos of previous rides, I don't feel a need for more? Laz...

There is a small chance we'll have to postpone due to rain, but plan on this thing happening. If we call it off, I'll post the update here as soon as I know. I'll also update the Perry Lake Work Day website . WE NEED A VOLUNTEER TO STEP UP who is willing to coordinate with CycleZone in Topeka to pic...
